DS Lite Black From Nintendo
Colour wise, the DS Lite comes as White, Black and the very popular Noble Pink which is incredibly popular with girls.
As mentioned above, the release date within Japan was March 2, 2006. the originally suggested retail price was recommended to be set at 16,800 yen. Following this, due to the Nintendo DS Lite being even more popular than originally anticipated the retail price was raised to 23,3000 by many electronics retailers. On auction sites, the Nintendo DS Lite was selling at a even higher price. The original amount of DS Lite consoles released by Nintendo in March 2006 was 550,000 which soon led to a shortage with them outselling extremely quickly.
Nintendo then released another 700,00 handheld consoles in April 2006 but even these sold out by end the of May 2006. Even during most of this particular year, there was a constant shortage with many retailers having adverts saying sorry to people who were looking to buy a DS Lite. Every time they have new stock in, they sold out straight away.
DS Lite Black Continued
Within Europe, the DS Lite was released on June 23 2006 for £99.99 and within a short space of ten days, had sold 200,000 handhelds within Europe alone. After the wake of the Nintendo Wii, the DS Lite sales increased especially the black version. During Christmas 2006, most retailers online and high street had sold out of the DS Lite White, Black and Pink. This means prices for devices which were unsold still, went up dramatically. This next year this happened again, with Nintendo thinking about stopping the Wii television adverts as this would cause even more popularity and mean they could not keep up with demand.
